Stop looking and bring your checkbook. If you’ve been looking for a diesel Carolina Classic 28 Express you’ve found her. This one owner boat has seen exceptional care since purchased new and has been dealer serviced by the same mechanic since day one. A full maintenance spreadsheet showing every invoice, date and work done is available to serious, qualified buyers along with a recent survey that rates her as above average (“showing above average care and no obvious defects or limitations”). She has approximately 1500 hours on her Volvo KAMD43P engines and a complete 1000 hour service was done in the 2019/2020 offseason with one engine pulled completely for access and all engine room insulation replaced. Don’t let this one get away. Easy to see just south of Annapolis, MD.
A revised version of the Albemarle 280 Express, the Carolina Classic 28 evolved when former Albemarle employee Mac Privet started Carolina Classic in 1992. Construction is solid fiberglass, and her wide 10'6" beam results in a very roomy cockpit. In spite of the fact that she's a dedicated fishboat, the 28 has a surprisingly complete cabin below with a big V-berth, stand-up head with shower, compact galley, air-conditioning, and teak-framed joinery. The engines are very accessible, the entire bridge deck can be raised on a pair of hydraulic rams at the push of a button. The cockpit has plenty of room for a mounted chair and includes a pair of in-deck fish boxes, rod holders, transom livewell, tackle center with sink, and fresh- and saltwater washdowns. Additional features include side-dumping exhausts, wide side decks, high gunwales, and a well-arranged helm with room for flush-mounted electronics.
